A big part of the current sneaker scene is the ever present collaborations between brands, various artists and big players in the sneaker industry. The biggest collaboration master is probably Ronny Fieg at the moment with his numerous Asics models and more recently his Puma Disc COA, now there is no doubting the quality of his shoes the minimal quantities that his shoes release in make it hard for most to obtain unless your prepared to queue for a minimum of 24 hours or get lucky online.
As you will have noticed if your read my previous posts I am 100% Nike, that’s not to say I don’t appreciate other brands models and quality I just seem to have issues when I try on other brands, whether it’s the shape or the simple fact it doesn’t have a swoosh stitched on the side! There is also the money factor, as much as I would love to own a multi brand collection I have to limit myself somehow, after all I need to eat and if you know me you know I like to eat!
I’m lucky to have a few nice collaborations in my collection a couple of which were not available to the general public to buy, these are known as Friends & Family releases, this is where a company gets the privilege to design their own shoe. The biggest non trainer brand for me is Sole Collector the worlds leading sneaker magazine and website, these guys produce a magazine of great content that is right up my street, I love the way they have articles that show the world the inner workings of how shoes are designed, be it with designer sketches, tech information or high class photography. If you don’t subscribe you are missing out. If you are based in Europe be sure to hit up @JordanMenace on twitter for details.
I am lucky to have known @JordanMenace for a number of years and through that I have come to know most of the guys at Sole Collector and have been very lucky to be either classed as a friend or part of the Sole Collector family that I have received a couple of their collaborations.
So without talking to much I will show you some of my collaborations, some may think they are ordinary but this is my collection and I buy what I like, just with others would do the same, I live by the shoe motto of “buy what you like and not the hype”
